Base Failure Repair Base Failures, or cave-ins, are the result of water damage from above or below the surface of the street. Base failure repair is performed, by excavating the failed area of the pavement and removing any wet and unusable material until a solid, dry surface is reached. The base of the street is then built up in layers to an appropriate depth before the asphalt surface is replaced. This type of repair prevents further deterioration to the street and restores the even riding surface of the street. | |
