LAKE WORTH'S COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION

With two new shopping centers opening in Lake Worth within the past four years, and more than 1 million square feet of retail space total, Lake Worth is one of the fastest growing commercial areas for its size in Tarrant County, Texas.

The city’s largest project, Lake Worth Towne Crossing Center (click here for Site Plan) that was developed by Weber & Company of Dallas (click here for an Ariel View), encompasses more than 440,000 square feet of retail space in the 48-acre tract of land bordered by Jacksboro Highway, Paul Meador and Azle Avenues. The center is anchored by a 123,735 square foot Target that opened in July 2005. An additional 50,065 square feet of retail space adjacent to Target also is planned for future expansion. Junior anchor department stores in the center include Hobby Lobby, Ross, PETsMART and Office Depot. Some of the other businesses in Towne Crossing Center include Chili’s, Famous Footwear, Sally Beauty, Anna’s Linens, Catherine’s Plus Sizes, Slim 4 Life, Deluxe Nail Salon, Wachovia Bank, Chick-fil-A, Jobo’s Hamburgers, Leslie’s Pools, Check ‘N Go, Firestone, Quizno’s, Day Spa Nails, Armstrong McCall Professional Beauty Supply, DOT’s, Citi-Financial, Kid to Kid, and Monarch Dental. In addition JKS International Salon, opened in 2006, and joining them in 2009 is the new Taco Cabana. Joining the City near Wal-Mart, Bank of America also opened in 2007.
In 2006, Lake Worth Marketplace began Phase Two of construction in the 28-acre shopping center located on Azle Avenue between Loop 820 and Boat Club Road. The center is anchored by Kohl’s Department Stores which opened in October 2005. Junior anchors Bed, Bath & Beyond and Marshall’s have joined Kohl’s in Phase Two, and openings occurred in the spring of 2007. Other tenants include Kirkland’s, Rack Room Shoes, Rue 21, Avenue, Lane Bryant, Sleep Experts and other retailers and restaurants to be announced at a later date. In addition Capital One Bank opened in November 2007 on one of the out parcels in the center. Other tenants in Phase One of the project included Vision City, Texas Tan, EZ Money, H & R Block, and Fantastic Sam's. The latest to join the Center is Bath and Body Works, and Firehouse Subs..
Best Health Chiropractic Clinic, located at the intersection of Azle Avenue at Paul Meador Drive, opened in the fall of 2005 and San Pedro Blinds, located at the intersection of Azle Avenue and Robert’s Cut-off, opened in January 2006. Starbucks, near the intersection of Highway 199 and Charbonneau Road, opened in March 2006. Chase Bank, which adjoins Starbucks, opened in May 2006. Commerce Plaza, a professional office complex, opened in April of 2007. T.G.I. Friday’s opened on January 29, 2007 and Mexican Inn also opened in the February of 2007. Joining the ranks in 2009, Chicken Express opened their doors in October, they are located at the intersection of Merrett and Highway 199.
Lake Worth’s new four-story Holiday Inn Express and Suites is at the intersection of Loop 820 and Azle Avenue. The interior corridor hotel has 70 rooms, including 16 suites, and features an outdoor pool, high speed Internet access in all rooms and has 46,800 square feet of space. Denny’s purchased property next to the Holiday Inn on Loop 820 and opened as well in April of 2007. Bigger's Funeral Home at the intersection of Azle Avenue and Boat Club Road, opened in the fall of 2005 and Studio Tan, Iwerk Texas, Inc. and United Cellular, Sprint (Nextel), located in Petrie Plaza, opened in the summer of 2005. Other businesses that have located in Lake Worth include Spring Creek BBQ, Rosa’s CafĂ© and Tortilla Factory, Cotton Patch Cafe, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Lieu’s Vietnamese Restaurant and Coffee House, and Boss’s Pizza. At the corner of Charbonneau Road and Lake Worth Blvd., Popeye’s Chicken and T-Mobile also opened at the end of 2007.
