Foster House

2009 was a busy year for the Historic Foster House.  After being moved from its original location on Jacksboro Highway to the new location on Charbonneau Road, the house has undergone numerous renovations including placing the rock back on the house after its move.  Re-rocking the house began in December of 2009 and continues.  Contractors are using pictures of the house to place the rock back on the historic structure as close to the original house as possible.  while the work is a slow process, the house is starting to look like it did before the move.  contractors hope to be finished with the rock by the end of the month.  The house will become the Lake Worth Area Historical Society's Museum when the project is finished.

 Historic Foster House Is Moving

These are exciting times in Lake Worth; the Historic Foster House is moving!  The Lake Worth Economic Development Corporation recently purchased the Historic Foster House from the Northwest Temple of Praise who has owned the house and property since 2001.  Preparations are in progress to move the house to a new location on Charbonneau Road where it will become a museum and the focal point of a new City Complex which will also include a new Library and Senior Citizens building.  The old stone house has been a city landmark for more than half a century, and has played a significant role in Lake Worth history.  In early September contractors began the task of removing the rock from the house, marking and palletizing it, then moving the rock to the new location on Charbonneau Road where the house will be moved.  Once the house is placed at its new location the arduous task of re-rocking the house will begin.
