Ready – Set – Go !

Monday
November 3rd, 2008 was an important date in the City of Lake
Worth. The Foster House made its historic move from its original location on
Jacksboro Highway to its new home on Charbonneau Road. H.D. Snow and Son
House Movers swarmed the house Monday morning, and by 11:30 the house was
ready to move. Making its way out onto Jacksboro Highway for a brief time,
the house then turned down Firehall, onto Merrett, and then made its final
turn onto Charbonneau Road. The house will become the Lake Worth Historical
Society’s Museum and the focal point of the new City complex housing the
senior citizens and new library, which will be built around the house. The
project now moves into the next phase of completing a foundation for the
house. Once the house is set, the next step will be to begin replacing the
rock on the house. Stay tuned for more on the “Historic Foster House”.

Historic Foster House Is Moving……..

These
are exciting times in Lake Worth; the Historic Foster House is moving! The
Lake Worth Economic Development Corporation recently purchased the Historic
Foster House from the Northwest Temple of Praise who has owned the house and
property since 2001. Preparations are in progress to move the house to a new
location on Charbonneau Road where it will become a museum and the focal point
of a new City Complex which will also include a new Library and Senior
Citizens building. The old stone house has been a city landmark for more than
half a century, and has played a significant role in Lake Worth history. In
early September contractors began the task of removing the rock from the
house, marking and palletizing it, then moving the rock to the new location on
Charbonneau Road where the house will be moved. Once the house is placed at
its new location the arduous task of re-rocking the house will begin.
