The primary function of the Planning and Zoning Department (herein referred to as P & Z) of the City of Lake Worth is to assist developers in the development of their land in the most efficient way possible, for both the developer and the City. This department is responsible for all developmental policies related to zoning, platting, subdivision, design criteria, and site plan/land use development.
Some responsibilities of the P & Z Coordinator are preparing zoning verification letters, updating/veryfying the City's zoning map accordingly, and distributing plats, site, landscaping, and civil plans for review by the appropriate city departments. The P & Z Coordinator also prepares P & Z cases, Board of Adjustment (herein referrred to as BOA), and Historical Preservation Commission (herein referred to as HPC) cases; to be heardby the appropriate board/commission. The P & Z Department maintains records related to zoning, approved/filed plats, development, site/civil plans, variance/special exception requests, P & Z Commission meeting minutes, BOA meeting minutes, and the HPC meeting minutes.
The P & Z Department consists of one full time employee; the P & Z Coordinator. This department works under the direct supervision of the Public Works Director.
