The Board of Adjustment consists of five (5) regular members and two (2) alternate members who shall serve in the absence of one (1) or more regular members. Prospective members shall be citizens who have demonstrated theircivic interest, general knowledge of the community, independent judgment, understanding of planning and zoning andthe availability to prepare for and attend meetings. In addition, all appointees shall have resided in the city for at least two (2) years prior to appointment. Members are appointed by the City Council. Regular members shall be appointed to places numbered one (1) through five (5) and alternate members shall be appointed to places numbered six (6) and seven (7). The member term shall start on October 1st and is for a two years term; with members in the odd-numbered places serving terms expiring October 1st, of odd numbered years and members appointed to the even-numbered places serving terms expiring October 1st, of even-numbered years.
Powers
The Board of Adjustment has the authority to authorize variances, special exceptions, waivers, and to hear appeals to decisions made by the Planning & Zoning Coordinator.
Meetings
The Board of Adjustment meets the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm as necessary.
