"H.E.A.T." - Help End Auto Theft

H.E.A.T. is a FREE statewide vehicle registration program administered by the Texas Department of Public Safety that helps law enforcement officials identify stolen vehicles.

A vehicle registered under the H.E.A.T. Program will display a State of Texas H.E.A.T. decal that authorizes law enforcement officers to stop the vehicle and verify ownership, between 1:00am and 5:00am, anywhere in Texas.  The vehicle may also be stopped if crossing the Texas/Mexico border.

WHY ENROLL?  A car is stolen in Texas every five and a half minutes.  More vehicles are stolen between 1:00am and 5:00am than any other time.  In 2003 more than 98,000 vehicles were stolen in Texas.  In 2005, more than 93,471 vehicles were stolen in Texas.  Simply by enrolling, you make it a lot harder for a thief to drive away in your car.

Enrolling is easy. Apply Online, apply by Mail by downloading the application or contact Detective S. Garcia at (817) 237-1224 Ext. 306 Tuesday through Friday between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

Vacation House Check

Burglar As a service to the citizens of the City of Lake Worth, the Lake Worth Police Department offers free vacation house checks.  Patrol Officers will periodically check the exterior of your home while you are away.  This service helps to deter potential burglars and provides for additional security while your house is unoccupied.

This service is not recommended for citizens that have friends or family that will be at the residence regularly for such things as yard work, caring for animals or using the amenities at the residence.

If you are interested and will be on vacation for at least one week, but not more than two weeks, you can sign-up for this service by completing a Vacation House Check form and returning it to Lake Worth Police Department prior to leaving on vacation.  Forms are also available at Lake Worth Police Department.
