The purpose of the Lake Worth PD internship program is to provide a lasting experiential learning process to college students interested in careers within the field of Criminal Justice and Criminology. The internship program allows our police department to provide this experience while meeting the city's and police department strategic objectives. This internship is 125 hours and is intended to satisfy 3 credit hours. The LWPD internship is designed to be flexible, taking into account the student’s course work, while providing a challenging, project-oriented, internship.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicant cannot be under criminal investigation for any offense, no class B or above convictions, must be enrolled as a junior or senior at an accredited university, must be enrolled in an internship class at an accredited university, must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and must not be on any form of academic or scholastic probation, be a U.S. citizen and possess a valid driver’s license.

Selection Process: After submitting a complete application and supporting documents, the student’s application will be reviewed by the police internship committee. The top internship candidates will be contacted for an interview. Following the interview, the top candidates will be extended a conditional internship pending the successful completion of a background check.
The deadline to submit applications for consideration is close of business, July 25, 2018. First review of applications will begin on July 26, 2018 and interviews for those selected will begin on July 30 – August 3, 2018. Applicants will receive notification of their selection or rejection by Friday, August 10, 2018. A one-day intern orientation for the selected applicants will take place prior to the start of fall classes. The internship will officially begin on September 4th following the Labor Day holiday.
