You can report Main Breaks 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays by contacting: City of Lake Worth City Hall 8am – 5pm Monday through Friday (817) 237-1211 ext 227 City of Lake Worth Police Department After Hours or on Holidays (817) 237-1224 ext 222 Signs of a broken water main are water running down the street and buckled pavement. Main breaks may leave specific areas without water. Based on the size of the main pipeline break, time required to locate and mark utilities, residents may experience delays in service as crews repair breaks and restore water service. Procedures to Repair Main Breaks Water personnel is dispatched to verify the address and specific location of the leak or main break.
After verification the water personnel contact the firm Dig Tess who contact all near-by utilities (gas, telephone, electric, and cable) and specifics related to the width and depth crews will be able to effect repairs.
The utility companies will then have two hours to mark the utilities. Often water personnel arrive before the lines have been located by their responsible parties, but the water personnel can not proceed until they receive approval or until the two hours are exhausted.
Once approval is received to dig or the two hour period is expired, a crew will proceed with repairs.
The repair crew updates the dispatch office on estimated repair time. A standard repair takes four to five hours to complete. If it is determined that more time will be required to complete the repair, the dispatch is updated with this status.
Do Not assume your neighbor will make the call. The Water Department would rather receive multiple reports about a suspected problem than no call at all. Taste and Odor Problems Contaminants found in drinking water may cause taste, color or odor problems. These do not necessarily indicate a change in the safety of your water. Water taste is affected by mineral content as well as the presence of chlorine. Taste and odor problems may occur in any lake for a number of reasons, such as algae growth, changes in temperature, excessive rainfall, flooding, drought or dry weather conditions. You can report Taste & Odor 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays by contacting: City of Lake Worth City Hall 8am – 5pm Monday through Friday (817) 237-1211 ext 227 City of Lake Worth Police Department After Hours or on Holidays (817) 237-1224 ext 222 Cloudiness Cloudy water from the faucet may be caused by tiny air bubbles in the water similar to the gas bubbles in beer and carbonated soft drinks. After a while, the bubbles rise to the top and disappear. Another cause of cloudiness in cold water comes from calcium. Water with calcium carbonate precipitate in it is perfectly safe to drink or use for cooking, though it may be unappealing to look at. |
