Program Overview

Help your child prepare for one of life's biggest milestones by reading 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten! We invite you to participate in this free program which encourages you to read 1,000 books with your newborn, infant, toddler, or preschooler before he or she starts kindergarten.

How to Participate

  • Visit the front desk of the Mary Lou Reddick Public Library to sign up.
  • To begin, each child will receive a book bag and a paper reading log with circles to mark each book read.
  • Start reading!
  • Visit the front desk of the library for every 100 books read to receive a milestone sticker.
  • Once you have read 1,000 books, visit the library to receive a special certificate and prize for your child to commemorate their outstanding accomplishment!
