It is not uncommon for a developer or a financial institution funding a development project to require or request a zoning verification letter.  Below you will find some helpful information in reference to zoning verification.

What is a Zoning Verification Letter?

A Zoning Verification Letter is a document provided by the City of Lake Worth to verify the current zoning of a specific piece of property and generally the types of uses that are allowed in that specific zoning district.

What type of information is provided in a Zoning Verification Letter?

The Zoning Verification Letter provided by the City of Lake Worth will contain the following information:

  • The current zoning district of the property.
  • The current overlay district of the property, if applicable.
  • A list of permitted uses allowed in that zoning district.

The letter will not provide any outstanding Code Enforcement violations on the property.  You may contact the Code Enforcement Division at 817-237-1211 x 112.

How do I obtain a Zoning Verification Letter?

To obtain a Zoning Verification Letter please complete the form below and submit with the required application fee of $35.00 (non-refundable).  An application and fee are required for each piece of property.  Requests need to be directed to:

How long does it take to receive a Zoning Verification Letter from the City?

Please allow at least ten (10) business days to process the request and receive your letter.

Helpful Hints
  • Make sure to submit your request at least ten (10) business days before the letter is needed.
  • Attach a copy of the legal description of the subject property with your request for zoning verification.  A legal description is required for staff to provide accurate information.  You may use Tarrant Appraisal District (tad.org) to obtain a print out for the property.
  • Please use the form below and make sure to fill form out completely to help expedite your request.
  • Before submitting requests please verify that the subject property is located within the City of Lake Worth city limits prior to requesting a letter.
