Intermediate Crime Scene Investigation

Proper crime scene investigation, evidence collection, and documentation are key components to any criminal investigation. This course provides participants with information, techniques, and methods for conducting investigations ranging from general crime scene investigations to death investigations. Course instruction is through lecture and case review with emphasis on practical application.

Course Information

  • 40 hours of TCOLE credit will be awarded after successful completion of this course (TCOLE #2106)
  • $100 per student, which includes refreshments all week
  • Business casual attire

About the Instructor

Madison DoerrMadison Doerr currently works at the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office in Fort Worth, TX as a civilian Crime Scene Investigator. Madison began working at the sheriff’s office in 2019 where she has spent the last two and a half years investigating crime scenes, processing evidence, and preforming latent print comparisons. Madison has investigated crime scenes spanning from property crimes to homicides from start to finish and has preformed searches and comparisons on hundreds of fingerprints. She received a Medal of Merit in 2020 for her work in her fingerprint cases and wrote the current Operating Procedure for Latent Fingerprints within her Division. Madison is a member of the International Association for Identification where she is also certified as a Crime Scene Investigator. She is a cerified Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) Operator and Instructor for the Texas Deparment of Public Safety and is currently pursuing her Latent Print Examiner Certification with the International Association for Identification. Madison has a bachelor’s degree from the Univeristy of Texas at Arlington where she specialized in Crime Scene Technology through a certificate program. She has attended hundreds of hours of training courses tought by both civilian and law enforcement instructors in Crime Scene Investigation and Fingerprints, as well as regularly teaches Intermediate Crime Scene Investigation (#2106) and Basic Fingerprint Identification (#3855). Madison is both a Field Training Officer and Texas Comission on Law Enforcement Instructor who regularly trains new crime scene investigators in both disciplines as well as guest instructs on topics such as footware casting, low light and arson photography, and preforms guest speaking engagements for her alumni.
